We are studying A Man Named Martin
The Divine Service is the service in which God offers His free gift of forgiveness of sins to us, poor, needy sinners. We receive, by the Holy Spirit, faith in Jesus through Holy Baptism. That faith is strengthened through the hearing of God’s Sacred Word and receiving His Holy Body and Blood through the Lord’s Supper.
In this same Divine Service we give thanks and sacrifice to God for these gifts. We do so with our prayers of thanksgiving and praise, with hymns of worship that proclaim His glory and with our offerings.
